280 days of 280daily

October 22nd 2011, 12:18 pm

280 days have flown by, but 280daily has a long way to go. Thank you to everyone who has jumped in and made the most of 280daily! Everyone loves statistics, in the spirit of openness, below you’ll find a general overview of 280daily’s growth and users. Slow but natural, 280daily is self-funded so we’re very happy with the numbers!

We know 280daily isn’t for everyone, currently 15% of users delete their account, which accounts for 750 users. We’ve received 607 feedback messages, made up of 22% ideas, 9% questions, 59% compliments, 4% problems and 6% other.

Many of the features that we wanted to launch this year will be moved to mid to late 2012. However, the book feature has been requested quite heavily. So we will be releasing the first version of the book export feature 8th January 2012.

As always, keep your feedback coming!

28 days of 280daily

February 12th 2011, 8:54 pm

It’s been 28 days since 280daily officially launched. In total across the site, members have written millions of characters and we have sent out tens of thousands of email reminders.

The feedback we’ve been receiving through our internal feedback form, Twitter, blogs, websites and the Chrome Web Store has been unbelievable. It’s reassuring to know that we’ve found a niche and are providing a service that a lot of people have been looking for.

We’re hoping to roll out plenty of features before the end of February. It’s great to see so many of these users volunteering themselves to help out.

Thanks again for all your support, if you have any feature requests or issues with 280daily, as always, let us know using the feedback form.

Chrome Web Store… plus Firefox

February 5th 2011, 12:16 pm

Today one user suggested we submit 280daily to the Google Chrome Web Store. Upon looking into it, we found out the web store isn’t just for native Chrome extensions, but also for online apps (did you know this?).

280daily has been submitted to the web store and hopefully it will be another great way of spreading the word. However, just to make things clear, installing 280daily in Chrome doesn’t add any extra functionality, it simply adds an icon to your Chrome dashboard. We’d really appreciate it if you could take the time to write a short review for 280daily at the Chrome Web Store.

Firefox
The majority of 280daily users are browsing with Firefox, which is why we thought it’d be a nice idea to create a Firefox Extension. We’ve almost finished working on it and we’ll let you know when it’s available. It’s a really simple tool that provides a quick overview of 280daily in your statusbar, you’ll have full control, so that you only see the information you want to see. We think it’ll be a great unobtrusive way of helping you keep your archive updated.

UPDATE: The Firefox extension is no longer being developed as we don’t have the resources to introduce an extension for all browsers, so it doesn’t make sense at this point to maintain a Firefox extension. If you already have the extension installed it will continue to work for the foreseeable future.

280daily pre-launch

January 13th 2011, 7:01 pm

280daily is pretty much ready and we’re quite pleased with ourselves. Now we’re entering into a stage of testing where we’ll be looking into every nook and cranny for problems we can fix. Official launch is 15th January. We’ve been working tirelessly (working until stupid o’clock) for over a month, building a powerful tool that essentially archives your life.

280daily was created completely from scratch, a bold move? We wanted to know that the web app would be secure and super quick and if you want a job done properly, do it yourself. Quick isn’t it?!

Please feel free to signup now, but if you find a problem, bug, flaw or anything that seems strange or not user friendly… please let us know!

Official launch: 15th January 2011
